Enrollment Notes 2011-2012

Thank you for your registration, and welcome to our dance family! 
We are looking forward to a great year! 

Class Times/Days

Classes begin after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 6.  Classes conclude at the end of May.  You may drop students off fifteen minutes prior to the start of the class, but please not earlier.  Please pick up students promptly after class.  If you miss a lesson, you are welcome to make it up.  Please ask your instructor for your make-up time. 

Watch Weeks

Visitors are welcome to observe classes during the following dates:  October 3-6, December 1-7, February 1-7 and April 2-5.  No video-taping is permitted. 

Dance Attire

All female students should have their hair pulled back out of her face and be free of distracting jewelry for all classes.

For our recital combination classes, students should wear proper dance attire in any color (leotards, tops, shorts, pants.) Dancers will need ballet (please tuck bows inside) or jazz shoes and tap shoes for class.  Any style and color is permitted.  Instructors will give exact instructions on the shoes needed for recital.  Most likely, dancers will need tan jazz shoes and/or tan tap shoes.  

For ballet/pointe technique classes, students must wear a black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes and hair in a bun. For jazz, tap, modern, leaps /turns technique classes, most students wear shorts and a sports bra/dance top.

Priscilla & Dana’s hosts an annual sale of new and gently used shoes, dance attire and costumes. This is a GREAT way to get all your dance essentials at fantastic prices! Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.  Please note there is a $25 charge on returned checks.  This year’s sale is open to the public on Friday, September 23 from 9 am – 7 pm and Saturday, September 24 from 9 am – 11 am.

Class Rules

Students are expected to attend all classes.  Frequent absences hold back other students in the class.  If you miss a lesson, you are welcome and encouraged to make it up.  Please ask your instructor for your make-up class. We reserve the right to dismiss any student whose attendance, attitude or conduct is found unsatisfactory.  Children not in class (siblings, etc) need to be under parental supervision at all times.  Tap shoes are allowed only in the dance rooms. 

Food & Drink

You may bring water to class.  Healthy snacks (such as yogurt, fruit, granola bars) and drinks are available for purchase in the main lobby. Food and drink is allowed ONLY in the Snack Room upstairs. Absolutely no gum is allowed in the studio. 

Lost & Found

Please put your name on all belongings.  Items left at the studio will be put in Lost & Found, which is on the main level past the front desk, in the corner. Please check for lost belongings frequently, as it is cleaned out at the end of each month.  Leftover items are donated to charity.

Tuition

We have NO enrollment fee.  Tuition is charged per month, not per lesson.  We are pleased offer discounts for multiple classes per week and/or multiple dancers in one family.  You can pay your tuition by check (payable to Priscilla & Dana’s) or cash (in an envelope with the dancer’s name on the outside.)  We do not accept credit cards. There are three types of tuition payment plans: 

1) Monthly – Monthly payments are due by the 10^th of each month.  For one 45-60 minute class per week, the tuition fee is $50 per month.

2) Trimester – The trimester plan offers a discount by paying three months at a time.  Payments are due by September 10, December 10 and March 10.  For one 45-60 minute class per week, the tuition fee is $135 per trimester.  The trimester plan is only available until each of these payment deadlines.  Once each deadline has passed, the rate is no longer available. 

3) Yearly – The yearly plan saves you 5% off the trimester rate.  Available only until September 14^th.

Tuition not paid by the 10^th of the month will result in a $5 late fee.  Students with outstanding accounts will not be admitted to class unless other arrangements have been made.  There are no refunds on tuition, and there is a $20 fine for returned checks.

Recital & Costumes

All recital classes are featured in the annual recital on Thursday, June 7^th, 2011 at the Music Hall.  The on-stage recital rehearsal will begin at approximately 10:00 am, and the recital will start at 6:30 pm.  The Music Hall is located at 301 W. 13th Street (13th & Central) in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, 64105.  Due to the cost of producing a recital, there is a $55 non-refundable recital fee per family due by October 26.

If you are in a recital combination class, the cost for recital costumes is $65 per child.  If dancers are in more than one recital class per week, please make a costume payment for each class.  All costume fees are non-refundable and due by October 26.  Please wear your recital costume to the recital rehearsal as well as the recital.  Recital t-shirts are available for purchase.  If you are interested, check at the front desk in April to place your order.

Father-Daughter Recital Dance

All dancers 6 & over are invited to participate in the annual Father-Daughter recital routine.  Watch for details in April!

Holidays

There will be no classes on the following days:  October 31, November 23-24, December 22–January 3,  Spring Break in March (exact dates TBA in September).  We do have classes on “Monday” holidays such as MLK Day, President’s Day.

Inclement Weather Cancellations

Classes will not be in session when the North Kansas City School District is dismissed due to inclement weather.  This includes early dismissal due to weather conditions.  If you aren’t sure if classes are in session due to weather, visit priscillaanddanas.net, check your email, our Facebook page, or call 816-455-0900 for the latest information.
